Zercher Squats
Zercher squats are a functional lower body exercise performed with a barbell held in the crooks of the elbows.
Instructions
- Start by setting a barbell on a rack at about waist height.
- Position yourself with the barbell in the crooks of your elbows, keep your fists close to your chest.
- Step back from the rack, and set your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Lower your hips to squat down, ensuring your thighs are parallel to the floor.
- Push through your heels to return to the standing position, maintaining a strong core.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Rounding the back as you squat, causing posture issues.
- Allowing the knees to cave inwards during the squat.
- Holding the barbell too far from the body, which can strain the arms.
- Not keeping a tight core, resulting in a loss of balance.
