Standing Dumbbell Calf Raise
A 200-characters-or-less explanation of the exercise.
Instructions
- Stand upright with a dumbbell in each hand, arms at your sides.
- Position the balls of your feet on the edge of a small step or platform with your heels hanging off.
- Slowly raise your heels as high as possible, squeezing your calves at the top of the movement.
- Hold the position for a moment, then slowly lower your heels back to the starting position.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Not using a full range of motion, leading to ineffective muscle engagement.
- Allowing the heels to drop too quickly, reducing the effectiveness of the exercise and risking injury.
- Neglecting to keep the knees slightly bent, which may stress the joints.
- Failing to balance weight evenly across both legs, causing uneven muscle development.
