Standing Calf Raises
An exercise focused on strengthening and building mass in the calf muscles of the lower legs.
Instructions
- Stand upright with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointing forward.
- Place your hands on your hips or hold onto a secure object for balance.
- Lift your heels off the ground, standing on your tiptoes.
- Pause for a moment at the top of the movement, concentrating on contracting your calf muscles.
- Lower your heels back to the starting position under control.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Not controlling the descent, leading to bouncing movements.
- Letting the heels touch the ground between reps, reducing tension on the calves.
- Not using a full range of motion, especially at the top of the exercise.
