Squat Jerk
A 200-characters-or-less explanation of the exercise.
Instructions
- Begin with the barbell on your shoulders, feet shoulder-width apart.
- Dip slightly at the knees while keeping your torso upright.
- Drive the bar upward explosively while simultaneously jumping into a squat position.
- Catch the bar overhead by fully extending the arms in the squat position.
- Stand up to complete the movement.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Failing to fully extend the arms, resulting in a press rather than a jerk.
- Not getting low enough into the squat position quickly enough to catch the bar overhead.
- Losing balance due to improper foot positioning or bar placement on the shoulders.
