Smith Machine Squat
A gym exercise using a Smith machine for controlled squats.
Instructions
- Set the bar on the Smith machine to shoulder height.
- Position yourself under the bar, resting it on your upper back.
- Unlatch the bar and take a step back.
- Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and toes slightly outward.
- Lower your body by bending your knees and pushing your hips back.
- Go down until your thighs are parallel to the ground or slightly below.
- Push through your heels to return to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Placing the bar too high on the neck.
- Not going low enough during the squat.
- Letting knees cave inward.
- Leaning too far forward.
