Push Press Behind The Neck
A weightlifting exercise that involves pushing a barbell from behind the neck overhead using momentum from the legs.
Instructions
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding the barbell behind your neck on your shoulders.
- Position your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width on the bar.
- Bend your knees slightly to initiate the movement with a push from your legs.
- Explosively straighten your legs and simultaneously push the barbell overhead.
- Lock your arms overhead before returning the barbell back to the starting position behind your neck.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Failing to use leg drive, making it solely a shoulder exercise.
- Not maintaining a straight back and engaging core during the lift.
- Using too much weight, compromising form and safety.
- Bouncing the barbell off the neck which could lead to injury.
