Dumbbell Step Ups
A great exercise for building strength in the legs, especially targeting the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings. This exercise also improves balance and coordination.
Instructions
- Stand upright while holding dumbbells at your sides.
- Place one foot on a bench or elevated platform.
- Push through your heel to lift your body onto the platform.
- Bring your other foot up to meet the first, standing tall.
- Step back down in a controlled motion, one foot at a time.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps, then switch legs.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Bouncing off the floor to use momentum.
- Letting the knee cave inward as you step up.
- Not fully extending the hips at the top of the step.
