Barbell Squat To A Bench
Perform squats using a bench to achieve proper depth and support.
Instructions
- Set up a barbell with appropriate weight on a squat rack.
- Place a bench behind you where you'll be squatting to.
- Position yourself under the barbell and lift it off the rack onto your shoulders.
- Step back carefully until you are standing with the bench directly behind you.
- Position your feet shoulder-width apart, with toes slightly pointed out.
- Initiate the squat by pushing your hips back and bending your knees.
- Squat down in control until your glutes make contact with the bench.
- Use the bench as a guide to maintain depth, but do not sit on it completely.
- Press through your heels to return to the standing position.
- Repeat for desired number of repetitions.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Rounding the back.
- Letting knees collapse inward.
- Rushing through the movement and losing form.
- Sitting completely on the bench instead of just using it as a guide.
