Barbell Bench Press Medium Grip
A 200-characters-or-less explanation of the exercise.
Instructions
- Lie back on a flat bench. Use a medium-width grip and lift the barbell from the rack, holding it straight over the chest with arms locked.
- Inhale and begin lowering the bar slowly until it touches the middle of the chest.
- Pause briefly and push the bar back to starting position as you exhale. Arms should be straightened. Repeat.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Bouncing the bar off the chest instead of using muscle strength.
- Flaring elbows out too wide, which can cause shoulder strain.
- Not keeping feet flat on the floor.
- Arching back excessively while lifting the bar.
- Gripping too narrow or too wide on the barbell.
